Alien Invasion

Author’s Note: What power would you choose to have. I would choose to have this.

I was in my yard playing baseball with my dad. We were just playing catch. I told him to throw a fastball at me and he did. The ball cam right for my face and I wouldn’t get it in time. Suddenly the ball just stopped in mid-air. I was controlling it. I threw it back at dad without touching the ball.

The day after a mysterious man came to our door. His name was John. He said he knew about what I could do and there were others. He said he could help me as well. I went with him to a school. In that school they taught us how to control our own powers. There were so many varieties. One person could turn into glop. Another could read minds. One person could eat anything. I was training until one day John told me he needed a team to stop aliens from invading earth. I said I would join him since I was the most powerful telekinetic at his school. Telekinetics can control things with their mind.  I went with into a room.

There were a few others in the room. I knew them all since they were in the advanced classes with me. One could control all the elements unlike most people that can only control one if they have the power. Another had to power to build almost anything . He built the spaceship we will be going in. There were two more people and they were actually brother and sister. They were both telepaths. Alone they were powerful but together they could get through the minds of almost anything.

I put myself into the crowd and talked with them when John told us that we would be departing. We all got into the spaceship and took off. We were riding for an hour before getting to the  armada of spaceships. We were facing a massive force of powerful aliens. We all attacked at once. The elemental guy set ships on fire and took them apart. The builder built a cannon and shot many ships down. The two telepaths persuaded the pilots to shoot each other down. I tore ships apart and tossed them into other ships.

It was finally get to the end of the battle. We were all worn out from fighting. We were about to destroy the last ship but then it sent a signal out. We didn’t what it was but we knew it couldn’t be good. The last ship was soon destroyed after he sent the signal. Suddenly more ships came into view. Twice as much as there were before. That signal must have been a call for help. We were too tired to fight this many ships.

We were on the brink of dying. The ships shot at us and we did all we could to deflect it but all that wasn’t enough. We were hit many times. Luckily our ship is being repaired by our builder. We had to retreat or we would die. Our ship was turning back but then ships got in front of us and on all our sides. We were surrounded. Something had to be done. I thought about how I once turned an apple to dust. If I could do that with all these ships at once, we might have a chance.

I got out of the ship and climbed to the top. All the ships had their cannons straight at me. They all shot. The bullets would have hit but right before I turned them into dust along with all the ships. After that last stand I fell unconscious for 20 years before waking up in a new era. Afterwards they told me everything that happened and that we won the battle. It was a glorious day.

3 Wishes

Author’s note: What would you do if you had three wishes. This is what I would do.
I was running from a angry mob that wanted to kill me. How I had gotten into this situation was a long story. It was a sunny day and I took a walk on the beach. I was walking until I had tripped over something. I looked at it and it was a jar. The jar had three holes in it. It said if you fill one with sand you get a wish.
I filled a hole with sand thinking nothing would happen but then smoke appeared. A man made out of smoke appeared out of thin air. He said I could wish something. I had to wish carefully. I wished for trillions of us dollars in mint condition. He granted me the wish. He disappeared with one of the holes. I filled another hole with sand. I wished to be the ruler of the world.
I wanted to save the last wish. Now that I was the ruler of the world. I ordered world piece. I made everyone wear a uniform. I also made them my servants. Everyone was not happy with this so they started a rebel and that is how I got into my messy situation. I didn’t know how I would get out of this. Then it hit me. My last wish. I had to use it to make everything back to normal. I took it out and ran to the beach. I filled it with sand and the smoke man appeared again. I told him fast to make everything back to normal. Whoosh.
Everything was back to normal. I was walking on the beach again and tripped on something. I just kept walking because I did not want to do anything with that jar. Normal is sometimes better than being a rich ruler chased by mobs.

Zombie Apocalypse

Authors note: What if all the people in the world except you turned into zombies. This is what I might do.
It was a beautiful day with birds chirping and flowers blossoming. I went to school and had started learning math. Suddenly the sky went dark and storms were brewing. Everyone was flapping their arms around as if they were puppets and someone was controlling them. Everyone was losing their hair and their eyes were bulging out. They were turning green and hideous. They looked dead but were alive. They were turning into the living dead. I was in a zombie apocalypse.
I ran around being chased by zombies. Luckily they were slow because their legs had gotten bloody and injured while turning into the monsters they are now. I had gotten away and found food to eat. I ate to keep my energy up in case I had to run again. I had to find a gun soon or I would die.
I found a store that had guns. I took a  and pdwr and a glock 17 also extra ammo for each. I looked up in the sky to see the storm. Was I imagining it or was there a beam of light in one place. Maybe that was causing all of this. I started walking towards it.
When I finally got to the beam there was a fortress around it and hundreds of zombies were there. I had to find away in. The back only had ten zombies around it. Good thing I had also taken a silencer for my glock 17. I shot the zombie in the back so the others did not see him go down. I kept doing that until they were all gone.
I opened the door and the fortress was actually just one room with the beam of light going into a machine. I shot the machine with my pdwr and nothing happened. I went up closer and saw there was a switch saying on and off. I was just about to turn it off when dozens of the zombies had now come inside. They must have heard my gunshots. I shot them all down but there were more coming. I flipped the switch to off hoping that this would end all this madness. Suddenly all the zombies were going through the same thing they did when turning into zombies. They all turned into humans.
This news had kept going for a year but blew away afterwards. This would go down in history. Everything was normal now that I wasn’t being chased by zombies. I had fame for a while until everyone forgot about the event. It was okay though because normal had never sounded so good.

Symbolism and Semantic Devices

“The Lottery” by Shirley Jackson
  1. It was sunny in the beginning of the book and since the sun it warm and comforting, that could mean comedy.
  2. There was a dark box that was faded and splintered so that could mean tragedy since darkness it never good.
  3. The flowers were blossoming so that could mean comedy because flowers blossom in spring and spring is a beautiful season full of things growing.
  4. At the end someone was screaming it wasn’t fair in a contest because someone was about to die, so that could mean tragedy.
  5. In the book there was a hush going through the crowd so it was silent because one of the people on stage were about to die.
  6. One person had got hit on the head with a stone so that is violence because someone threw it at them and people kept throwing stones and that causes pain which can mean tragedy.
  7. Since the husband and wife were caring for each other that can mean romance because love is romance.
  8. In the book winning the lottery is a bad and that is ironic because in real life it is the exact opposite.

The Switch

AUTHOR’S NOTE: I thought of writing this when I was drinking Switch. It gave me an idea of writing about a switch.

The Switch was magnificent. It was an elegant switch with golden lining and it was the most beautiful thing ever invented. The switch turned the sun on and off. I don’t how it is possible but it is. The switch is hidden from mankind and that is why they do not know about it. I am the first human to find the switch and because of that I caused an Armageddon.

It was a normal day for me. I  went to work and finished the project I was working on. When i was on my way home there was a road block and I had to go a long way to get home. I was on the highway when a car that was speeding by 100mph crashed into me. My car flipped upside down and rolled off the highway. I got out of it barely walking. I had half walked and half crawled into a cave. I went into there to escape the pounding rain. When I got in I saw... the Switch.

I turned it on thinking that it was a light switch but when I flipped it. It had gotten cold and dark. I thought it was broken, so I did no more to it. When I felt better, I left the cave and that was my greatest mistake. I left the switch off.

When I had turned the switch off, the Armageddon started. I saw the sun and it was dark and it was freezing everywhere. It was snowing in the middle of June in California. I looked at the temperature on my phone and I glimpsed that it was -50 before my phone and turned into an ice cube. I was pretty close to turning into an ice cube myself. I thought of the switch and how it got cold when I flipped it. I went to the switch and flipped it. I was getting warmer and thought to myself that this is a magical switch. A switch that was dangerous for mankind.

The Storm

It was midnight at the kingdom of Lytheria. People were screaming in terror of the storm that coming upon them. What would happen to the people? Were they doomed or would something or someone save them?

It was thirty minutes after midnight. the king had called his people to the town square which was in front of the castle. They were going to discuss what to do. the king said, “there was legend that said there would be a storm. There was only one thing that could save the kingdom. It was the sword of legends. It is at the top of Mount Krawlion. Is there anyone brave enough to venture out to the mountain.”
“I will” shouted a brave adventurer.
“Thank the lords, there is someone to save us.”
“Hey, I might not make it back, but the same fate would have happened to me even if i didn’t go.”
“You have point. Will you need any supplies?”
“No, I have all that I need.” After those words were said, the brave soul went to the forest which was in the way of the kingdom and the mountain.

The man who had gone to the forest was now halfway through. It was easy but that was the first half. The second half was not as easy. The man was walking when he had heard rustling in the bushes. “Who’s there?” the man shouted. He heard growl. He took a dagger out, but then something launched at him.

The tiger was licking him. It was only a baby. The man got up and started to walk away. The tiger had followed him continuously. The man finally said “Fine. You can come along.” He picked up the tiger and continued walking.

The man had gotten to the base of the mountain. He started walking up but then he saw the storm at the tip of the mountain which was the exact place where he had to go. He walked up more until he got to the tip. He walked into the storm. There was lighting being shot and the ground was on fire. It was a steaming oven. He had to get the sword and get out. He was looking everywhere and couldn’t find it. When he was about to lose his last bit of hope, he saw a shining light. He walked toward it. The light had come from a cave. He went inside with burnt marks all over him. He walked to the source of the light. When he got there it is was so bright that it hurt his eyes. He shot out his hand and put it into the light. His hand touched some thing cold and hard. He rubbed his against it until he touched leather. He grabbed it and took it out of the light. It was the sword. He went back out of the cave and plunged the swords high into the air. The storm that was brewing had stopped and disappeared into thin air. The man had finished the job.

When he had gone back to the king, he was rewarded with lots of gold and silver and he would be honored throughout history. The adventurer and lived a long life but had an ironic death. He had died when a storm and spit lightning at him. He is still remembered as the man who saved Lytheria.

What it's like to be a bow.

AUTHOR’S NOTE: What you will read is the point of view from a bow and arrow. I got it for Christmas. This might make you wonder how it would be like to be a bow. I am happy that it does not happen to me.

I was a free piece of plastic until the day I heard machines whirring so loud that it was painful. I couldn’t bear being pulled and bended into shapes to fit the liking of a human. I was a piece of plastic, flat and straight. They made me into a bow that shoots arrows.

When I was in the machine I was tortured, but when I got out it was worse. I was in a plastic box unable to breathe. It was a nightmare come true. I was taken by a pair of customers. They had given me to a person about 12 for Christmas. I was being pulled on by that person many times, each time more painful than the last. I wasn’t alone though. I had my two arrows to be with. They had it worse actually. They were shot into hay many times. I can’t imagine what it was like for them being shot without free will. I empathize with them though.

I hope that someday I will be free in a junkyard, able to rest after all those years of agony. I yearn for that day. I hope that happens for my two little companions. Until that day I shall wait, I will wait for the day that I am free.
