The Enemies are Among us
Imagine having the whole government being run by a group who are tasked with killing all children that are born after their parents have already had two. What if you were one of those children, hiding from the population police? Matthias was one of those children but he was fighting for his freedom and all children not allowed to live. He was brave in situations where if one false move could cost his life and his beloved ones. He was brave against the tyrannous population police. I had connected to many things like literature, movies, and my own life to the book Among the Enemy.
Matthias had helped one of the population police in a situation where he might have died. He had helped him live and that would have surprised anyone reading the book. Helping the man had gotten Matthias close to the commander of the population headquarters. Those events had reminded me of double agents from movies and book because he tricked the enemy into thinking he was helping them only when he was helping the rebels and in the movies and books that is what double agents do.
The book had connected to movies and books but also it had connected to our world. They weren’t allowed to have more than 2 children. It was because the government thought they were overpopulated so they didn’t want more people. It had reminded me of China. China had been so overpopulated that they made it so that a parent could only have one child. It was just like Among the Enemy. The children in China that were born illegal were probably scared just like the kids in the book. This book might be different from most parts of the world but it is also alike.
The book connected to our world but also its characters related to the world. Matthias had gone through numerous tough situations where he had to trick the population police into thinking he wasn’t a third child. He also tricked them into thinking he wanted to help the population police and that had let him get to the top. Quick thinking was a tool he used often. That had reminded me of life. In life many people have to be in a tough situation like that. Some are even illegal like Matthias. Workers had to save their job if it was on the line or criminals try to trick the police. It had all been like what Matthias had done.
Among the Enemy was an amazing book I had connected to. I had mostly connected to Matthias though since he was the main character. He had gone through a lot and most kids might not have survived what he went through. Books, movies, and life had all been things I had connected to.
