The wind whirls around you with the swipe of your arm creating a shield around you that can protect you while harming others. That is the power of the sword. Swords are powerful weapons for close range. They are deadly to the touch and are amazing tools of destruction.
Swords are blades that are used for cutting. There are many types of swords like a long sword or katana. They are both powerful. All of them could be used really great against guns. The thin ones can be used fast enough to be faster than a gun. All of the swords have their on unique characteristics and each one can be used in a way to beat a gun.
Many people had used swords. Why did they use swords? They used them because swords were very strong in close range situations they had to face. Knights, ninjas, and samurais used them. As you can see they were chosen a lot for close range because the sword is the best for that.
Swords have unlimited ammo, while guns have a limited amount. If you lose all the bullets, your gun is almost completely useless. If there are more people than you have bullets, you could be beaten. If you have a sword you could use it for a long time unlike guns. It could be used until broken, but the swords would last for a very long time.
A gun is a machine. Machines can go wrong sometimes. You could have a problem loading the gun or anything like that and you would be dead before you could even have the chance to fix it. With a sword that wouldn't happen.A sword doesn't need to be loaded or anything else that will cause problems.
As you can see the sword is an excellent choice for close range combat. It is a great weapon that many people used. They are unique in their own way. Now do you change your mind about what weapon to choose for close range?

AUTHOR'S NOTE: This is for America. I am proud of the country. You will also be proud of this country if you read this.
Are you proud of your country? I am proud of America. We are a great country with freedom and liberty. We have a great military, law enforcement, healthcare, technology, and economy. We are a great country. We are lucky to be here in this amazing country.
America is free of slavery unlike others. Everyone in America is really lucky. We get freedom unlike some other countries. I am happy to live here in country. But that freedom isn’t for free though. The military risk their lives to protect us and keep that freedom going. Without their courage and bravery our freedom could go away. The military have been fighting for centuries now. I am happy for living in a country that has privileges like us.
With all that we have more. America’s technology is one of the most advanced in the world. We have that great technology because of people who work to make it grow. Because of that high tech equipment, scientists can work to save lives and find cures for diseases. But to save lives there has to be people who will save them. Doctors and surgeons save lives. They save lives with their expertise and equipment. If a surgeon hadn’t gotten up at midnight and worked to save my life. I might not even have wrote this.
Not only do we have technology we have a great law enforcement. Our law enforcement keeps the streets we walk on safe. Cops capture criminals so they can’t do any more crime. We are safe because of that. They also make it safe to drive, because they catch speeders and speeders are one of the reasons for traffic accidents. They also stop a lot of robberies and kidnaps.
There is a great law enforcement but America also has one of the best economies. We are very advanced because of that. Also since we have a good economy we are able to buy resources and supplies we need.
If I had to choose a country to live in, I’d live in America, the country that I am proud of. It is because of hard work that our country is what it is today. America is one of the greatest countries of all time.

AUTHOR’S NOTE- This a reflection of the book Hunger Games. It’s a great book that I could visualize clearly and made similarities with.
Twelve districts with laws worse than slavery. Starving people inside an electrified, barbed fence and all of that was nothing compared to the horrifying hunger games in which people had to fight to the death. That horror had taken place in The Hunger Games by Suzzane Collins. The author had wrote this story in a way you could connect to it.
There had been many similarities with this book to other books and also movies. When I read the parts that Katniss was thinking of who she really liked, I thought about the movie Twilight. In Twilight a girl had to choose between two people. In the Hunger Games, she had two lovers named Gale and Peeta. Not only had I made similarities with Twilight, there were other similarities I had made.
Other than similarities, I had made connections with movies I had seen. In a gladiator movie everyone who was a gladiator was forced to fight to the death. The gladiators had no choice or say in anything. In the Hunger Games the tributes had to fight to the death just like the gladiators and has just as much say as a gladiator did.
All the similarities and connections would help you to understand the book better. By knowing about gladiators you would be able to tell what the tributes could do. The book would make you think about many connections since the book was written with great description.
The Moods of Josh
AUTHOR’S NOTE: This is about the character development of Josh Newman who is one of the main characters in first 3 books of the series “The Secrets of the Immortal Nicolas Flamel”. Josh is an interesting guy with many characteristics.
Josh Newman is very interesting. He has many moods throughout this amazing story called “The Secrets of the Immortal Nicolas Flamel” like anger, fear, jealousy, and greed. Josh had a crazy adventure which changed his life forever.
Josh was a joyous person until the day he learned that myths were real. He pointed his anger toward Nicolas because he was the one who had gotten him into his crazy life. Since Nicolas had risked Josh and his sister’s life, Josh was always enraged at Nicolas. His life had gotten to be so crazy that anger was a mood that would never change. Anger was only one of the moods but another one was fear. Josh had fear in him all the time. Not always at the same thing but he was always scared. He was scared of all the myths that had become real to him over the days. He was scared of them but there was something that he was scared of even more, his sister. She was different from him and until he had the power, he was scared when ever he saw his sister have silver disks instead of eyes. The intense life he had made him scared all the time since now he knew there were people or things that could take out cites with the snap of a finger.
Besides anger and fear, there were two moods that were much bigger named jealousy and greed. Those two moods were combined because whenever he was jealous, he was greedy for whatever he was jealous for. He was jealous for many things he saw, especially when he saw his sister use an elemental power. He was jealous of her and so he was greedy. He was so greedy that he had gone to the evil side to get power. He came back, but he still had a little evil in him. He was also greedy for knowledge and fighting power. He was so greedy for knowledge, that he was a little crazy about it. He was a greedy person and that is never a good characteristic and someday he will pay for being so greedy.
Josh was going through a part of his life where he was phasing into a new way of living. I can understand why he had some of those moods, since anger was directed at the person who had made his life crazy which led Josh away from his normal life which was peaceful. He was scared for a reason too. Anyone would be scared if they saw gods and other beings that could destroy the world. He was jealous of his sister because she had a new power that made her more unique and if what happened to him happened to anyone, most people would also be jealous. If I was jealous, I would want that power too. I don’t think I would go to the dark side but I can understand why he felt that way.
In this thrilling story Josh had many moods and now you know Josh Newman. His life was interesting and now you know why. He was scared, angry, jealous, and greedy but all those moods was for a reason. You found out why he was all those characteristics. Now you know how he was different in the story, “The Secrets of the Immortal Nicolas Flamel.”

AUTHOR’S NOTE: I wrote this book so that readers will know how good the book Found was. Margaret Peterson Haddix wrote an amazing book with lots of suspense.
Imagine being in a place where you don't know where you are from or more importantly when you are from. These two kids in the book where from a another time period and they did not know it until the very end. Found was an amazing, suspenseful story written by Margaret Peterson Haddix. The author had wrote the book in a way that you could connect to with ease.
Mystery was in this book a lot. In the book they had to find out clues to see where they were from and to see why they were a survivor. That had made the book into a mystery which made the book all the more better. Many events in the story would make you want to read more and more but sadly we have to put down the book at some time. Until the next time you will be itching to start reading this spectacular book.
This book was wrote with heart because the kids in this book were adopted and Margaret Peterson Haddix wrote it so adopted kids would probably be able to relate to the main character. Also the story in this book might help some adopted kids as well since it shows how the main character dealt with being adopted. When reading this you will think that this book is suspenseful and mysterious, but you will also think that this book has some heart in it.
The kids had to go through many changes in their life and they get through it by themselves. Those changes that they went through could teach some real kids in what to do. “Found” could help out some people with entertainment and life lessons. It teaches how they went through tough choices and how the kids stuck together. It has some crazy things that couldn’t actually exist, but it relates to real-life situations. People can be helped because of this book.
“Found” was an amazing book created by Margaret Peterson Haddix. Suspense, mystery, and heart was in this book. A book that must be read by everyone. “Found was a book that could fit many great genres at once. Not reading this book would mean you are missing out. The story of those two boys is an excellent way to have fun, because when you read this book you will have fun.

AUTHOR’S NOTE: I had made many connections with Sent through lots of different things. It was a fictional book with lots of true facts which made me think about history.
Margarette Peterson Haddix had wrote a book that took place in1400. In the book they were running from someone who could be their enemy or their friend. When they finally found out, they had to go back in time to fix time. I had made many connections with the book to life, literature, and to many other events. The book was an amazing fictional story with many facts about history. It would make people think about many events that had happened in history.
The three kids in the book were in lots of danger and they didn’t know what was happening until it had been explained. They couldn’t trust anyone except themselves. It had reminded me of the of The Shadow Children because in that they could only trust themselves because they were not supposed to be alive and since they don’t have an identity they would get killed by the government and in Sent the kids were not supposed to be from that time era and people from the future were trying to send them back so that time would be fixed.
Sent had not only made me think about connections to other books but also history. I had thought of the medieval era when the setting had changed to the 14 hundreds. It had related to the medieval era because there were kings and queens and weapons that modern day has not used in a long time. Since there were no electricity and the light came from candles, I thought of the olden days where are grandmas and grandpas lived in. There was not much for them and when the kids in the story went back in time, they did not have much either.
This book was an amazing story that I could connect to in many ways like with books or life. The book would make you think about how life had progressed from candles to LED lights and from riding on horses to cars. It had history and many facts about it and still made the book fictional and very enjoyable to read.

The Horror of Drilling in Alaska
In Alaska there are reservoirs of oil, but we shouldn’t drill for it there. Right now Alaska is a white, snowy land with wildlife but if we drill for oil it will turn into a dark wasteland without much life. Alaska has many things that would be at risk if we drill there. There are too many dangers that oil can cause. We would risk the environment and animals there. That is why we should not drill for oil in Alaska.
Keeping the environment safe is one of the big reasons we should not drill for oil. When we drill we would have to clear trees and take land up to put up the factories. We would also harm the environment when we drill for the oil because we would have to clear up a space to drill. Also the garbage and sewage that is not picked up would harm the environment by littering or being swept away into the water. And when we have a factory it would pollute the air and harm the air around us.
The process will affect the environment and then that will affect the animals. In Alaska there are many endangered animals and we have to keep them safe. If we drill it would ruin their homes and they might not have anywhere else to go. Also if the water gets contaminated the animals will not be able to drink water and without it they would die and if they do drink the water, it could poison them and also kill them. There aren’t many options to have without harming anyone so we can’t drill for oil there.
We would harm the animals and environment but not get much out of drilling for oil anyway. Drilling for the oil would only reduce oil imports by a mere 4%. Oil importing would not stop so the price for oil would not go down as well. Alaska’s oil would only last for a little while until all that runs out. It is not worth all the harm that it does. The united states should think of an alternate energy source so that we do not have to harm the environment and animals and also we would not have to buy from other countries. Risking Alaska’s wilderness is not worth it for just for a bit of oil.
Alaska’s wilderness is a sanctuary and should remain a sanctuary. We should not drill for oil there because of many reasons. The process could harm many things and maybe even cut off some animals from the world. Oil would not help much and that is why we should not drill. We should find a way that would not harm anything and stop the oil consumption in the United States so that we do not have to import oil. We should not drill for oil in Alaska.
