Patriot's Pen

Author's Note: This is my opinion on the founding fathers of america. This essay is for the Patriots  Pen Essay.

If I could meet the founding fathers right now there would be many words I would tell them. They had done wonderful things but all the same had done things not as great. I would tell them to fix the bad acts they had done, so that the country could become even better than they had made it.

They had done wonderful acts for the country, yet they had made many mistakes. Some of the founders were actually hypocrites, even though the founding fathers had rebelled against slavery, some of them owned slaves. It was disgusting how they did the very thing they acted against. Back then women were treated worse than men because they did not have equal rights and were thought of as inferior people. Everyone should have a right to be equal. The founding fathers had committed some horrible acts and they should fix that if they could.

As opposed to the dark side of what they had done, there was also a side with light. The founding  fathers had done many wondrous deeds. They had created this amazing country. Our country is free unlike many others. We are one of the most dominant countries thanks to them. We can walk out on the streets safely without guns shooting at us and the sound of bombs breaking our eardrums. There are countries like that. We are a haven safer than most.

Not only had they created this wonderful country some of the founding fathers had created inventions that broke the surface of technology back then. Thomas Jefferson had made the clock so we can tell what time it is. Benjamin Franklin invented bifocals which helped many people who needed them. He had also made the lightning rod which saved many lives and buildings.

This haven that the founding fathers built is a magnificent nation. Even though there are many terrible things about the country, the miraculous part covers up for it. The founding fathers are admirable in the sense that they created this country even though they had done some atrocious things.  They had invented some things that we use every day. They did wonderful deeds for our country.

Cause and effect

Author's note: I was reading Touching Spirit Bear. This is easily one of the most important events in the story since it helped him heal.

One of the most major events was the mauling. Cole had attacked the bear out of anger and fear since the bear wasn’t afraid of him. When the bear got attacked it attacked back for defense and then Cole was defenseless against it. After being attacked he was laying on the floor and while that happened he thought about himself.

The cause which made the bear attack Cole was that Cole attacked it. After the attack Cole was laying on the floor and thinking about himself. He had thought about everything and that made him more understanding  and changed his direction towards anger to the opposite way. Since that happened Cole wanted to stay on the Island and get better. If the mauling had never happened, Cole would have never changed his direction from anger. He would have stayed the way he was and just grown worse. The event was a major part in Cole emotions. The mauling might have done bad to his body but did good for his mind.

Conflict/resolution

Author's note: This about the book Touching Spirit bear. It was about an angry boy who had to heal. I wrote this before I finished so I did not know the actual resolution.

I think that the conflict in the book is that Cole needs to get over his emotions. It is a person vs. self because Cole is fighting over his emotions. He has done many bad things and he needs to heal to get over that. Cole went to the island to try to heal but that wasn't enough. He is still feeling guilty for beating Peter up. To heal, he needs to heal Peter.

He will probably try to get Peter to do all the things Cole had done since that helped Cole, so he thought it would help Peter too. Peter will heal with the help of Cole and the island. So then after he is finally happy, Cole will be happy and healed.

Personal Narrative

Author's note: This was about the time I had gone to the Mall of america for Christmas and a crazy thing had happened there.

I had just bought something from the Mall of America when I had noticed something weird. There were lots of cops standing guard. In my head I wondered what was going on so I went walking through the mall.

 As I was walking I noticed most of the stores were closed so I tried to get to the other part of the mall when the cop had interrogated me. Somehow I got through with no trouble but that was when I saw it happen. There was a huge mob running towards me so I also started to run.

While I was running I saw a store that was open and I stepped into it and then asked someone what was happening. The person had told that there was a huge fight going on. In my head I was seeing two sides with weapons charging at each other. I wondered what was actually happening.

I was still wondering when I had gotten out of the Mall. Somehow I quickly managed to get out of the mall safely and was now going back to the hotel. In the bus that takes us back, we were all talking about the fight. One had said they saw people throwing things with chairs flying in the air. The weirdest thing I heard was that it all started by two girls fighting over some clothes.

There were a lot of stories and I don’t know which ones were all true and which ones were false but I do know that I will never forgot this memory. It was a day I had lots of fun but it was also a day that was crazy, a day that I will not forget.
