Christmas poem

Christmas is finally here,
with all its laughter and cheer,
it is so full of snow,
temperature oh so low,
getting many gifts,
going up ski lifts,
spreading cheer everywhere does Santa Claus,
he deserves a lot of loud applause
on his side he has nine flying reindeer,
on them are silver bells that you can hear,
he has little elves on his side,
whom will do as he abides,
at the north pole, the very top,
is where lies Santa's workshop,
there the elves make all the toys,
for all the good girls and boys,
he gives to the nice
but for the naughty there is a price,
they will have much fright,
as they receive coal dark as night,
but Christmas is not all about getting,
giving is much more befitting,
here is some advice,
be very nice.

Great Risk

Authors Note: My essay is about the theme, great risk, in different things.

I  have beads of sweat coming down my forehead. Will the old man see us? I can see the baseball as it is a foot away. I grasp the baseball with my sweaty hand and take off. That was the small risk of going into the mean old neighbor’s yard. Great risk though is risking your life. Risk is shown throughout many things but great risk is not shown as much.

In the Mark of Athena 7 demigods risk their life so that the world doesn’t end by the hands of evil. One of the 7, Annabeth, took a very great risk. She had gone alone to save a statue that would somehow save the world. Annabeth knew that she had to go alone because she is the daughter of Athena and Athena herself had chosen her for the quest. The risks were clear, since many children of Athena have tried and failed. As her last trial, which she knew was coming, she had to face a giant spider which was her greatest fear. Even though she knew she had to face her greatest fear she still took the risk of going on the quest.

Doom was not only ascending in the Mark of Athena but also in Fablehaven. A group of people had gone to a place where they could have easily died but they took the risk because there was an item at that place they needed. At the place they had risked their lives by doing dangerous things. One person had died while 3 got captured by the enemy. But all of this was not in vain because in the end the group had gotten the item.

Great risk is not only shown throughout books. It is also shown throughout life. People who fight in wars and battles for our country take huge risks. They risk their lives so that our country is better. Those people who go and fight wars, where they can easily die, are true risk-takers. But these risks are worth it, for without them we wouldn’t have our great country.

Great risk is not ringing the doorbell of the mean, old neighbor and running. It is risking your life for others. People do it in real life all the time like the army, navy, marines, etc. These books contain great risk, risk that cannot be matched to.

Fablehaven Prediction

Author’s note: This is what I think will happen in the 5th book of the Fablehaven series. It is in the view of a girl whose name is Kendra.

My heart is racing as the Sphinx stands in front of me. He holds the 5 keys and is about to open the prison. Is the entire world doomed? I hold Seth’s warm hand since it is comforting to know I will at least be with my brother in the end. But then something happens. As I touch my brother’s hand, a dim light grows in between us. It gets bigger and bigger until it shoots out a beam of light that shines on the sphinx. I feel hope surging through me as the Sphinx falls to his knees. Is the war over? Has the world been saved? I think of these questions as I remember how it had all started.

The Sphinx was the person who had wanted to open the demon prison which could only be opened with the 5 separate keys. He had thought it would make the world a better place but it wouldn’t. Seth and I were part of the Sorensons who were the people against the Sphinx’s cause. My brother and I each had our own special abilities which together were more powerful than ever. The Sphinx had gotten the keys all the keys to the prison and was about to open up the prison but that was when “it” happened and the world was saved.
