Authors Note: My essay is about
the theme, great risk, in different things.
I
have beads of sweat coming down my forehead. Will the old man see us? I
can see the baseball as it is a foot away. I grasp the baseball with my sweaty
hand and take off. That was the small risk of going into the mean old
neighbor’s yard. Great risk though is risking your life. Risk is shown
throughout many things but great risk is not shown as much.
In the Mark of Athena 7
demigods risk their life so that the world doesn’t end by the hands of evil.
One of the 7, Annabeth, took a very great risk. She had gone alone to save a
statue that would somehow save the world. Annabeth knew that she had to go
alone because she is the daughter of Athena and Athena herself had chosen her
for the quest. The risks were clear, since many children of Athena have tried
and failed. As her last trial, which she knew was coming, she had to face a
giant spider which was her greatest fear. Even though she knew she had to face
her greatest fear she still took the risk of going on the quest.
Doom was not only ascending in
the Mark of Athena but also in Fablehaven. A group of people had
gone to a place where they could have easily died but they took the risk
because there was an item at that place they needed. At the place they had
risked their lives by doing dangerous things. One person had died while 3 got
captured by the enemy. But all of this was not in vain because in the end the
group had gotten the item.
Great risk is not only shown
throughout books. It is also shown throughout life. People who fight in wars
and battles for our country take huge risks. They risk their lives so that our
country is better. Those people who go and fight wars, where they can easily die,
are true risk-takers. But these risks are worth it, for without them we
wouldn’t have our great country.
Great risk is not ringing the
doorbell of the mean, old neighbor and running. It is risking your life for
others. People do it in real life all the time like the army, navy, marines,
etc. These books contain great risk, risk that cannot be matched to.
