The story and movie were similar but had many differences. In the
movie much of the symbolism was lost in the story the old man sat in the only
shaded area which showed despair and loneliness while in the movie that had the
old man in the light probably so that we could see him better. Also the people
who acted in it made it different since they were Irish or Scottish. Their
accent made it difficult to understand what they were saying. All that had made
a difference.
While the movie did not portray the story very well it had its
advantages. The music in the movie had let us imagine the sadness much better
than the story. But that was all that was good about the movie. If the
adaptation hadn't lost much of the symbolism and also had different actors it
would have been better.
